Overeaters Anonymous is a fellowship of individuals who, through shared experience, strength and hope are recovering from compulsive overeating and compulsive food behaviors whilst working towards or maintaining a healthy body weight. Overeaters Anonymous is 12 step program focusing on physical, spiritual and emotional recovery.
We welcome everyone who wants to stop eating compulsively!
There are no dues or fees for members, we are self supporting through our own contributions, neither soliciting nor accepting outside donations. OA is not affiliated with any public or private organisation, political movement, ideology or religious doctrine, we take no position on outside issues.
Our primary purpose is to abstain from compulsive behaviours and to carry this message of recovery to those who still suffer. OA is not just about weight loss, gain or maintenance; or obesity or diets. It addresses physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. It is not a religious organisation and does not promote any particular diet.
If your relationship with food is causing you pain- whether it’s binging, overeating, purging or starving, OA can help. Members come from all walks of life, are all shapes, sizes, ages and genders. What we have in common is a desire to stop eating compulsively. Many of us have lost the desire to eat compulsively and are living lives we never dreamed possible.
There is no need to suffer alone, we urge you to attend a meeting where you will be warmly welcomed. Here is information on Adelaide and Alice Springs meetings.
It is recommended that you attend six meetings before deciding if OA is for you. OA’s tradition of anonymity ensures your privacy will always be protected.
We look forward to welcoming you at a meeting soon.
